Happy New Year !
Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir agus fáilte ar ais ar scoil.
Welcome back to all our 6th Class students. I hope they are all well rested and ready for the busy term ahead.
Here are some dates to remember and a note of some of the activities which the students will be engaging with this term.
The Service of Light will take place on Monday 29th January in St Mary's Church in Sandyford.
The Confirmation will take place on Friday 23rd February also in St Mary's Church.
The students will be making their Confirmation with the 6th Class students from St. Patrick's N.S. Glencullen and with a small group of students from Kilternan Church of Ireland N.S.
It's a date for us all to look forward to.
Students must wear full school uniform for both of these services.
It is very important that students talk with their parents when making decisions with regards to aspects of their Confirmation. Important issues for discussion include choosing a Confirmation name, choosing a sponsor and taking the pledge. These will be covered in school and it is important that it is followed up at home also.
6th Class will be starting cycling safety lessons on a Monday afternoon. This will begin on Monday 22nd January.
Tag rugby will begin on Tuesday 16th January and Sean-nós dancing will kick off on Thursday 18th January.
Students may wear their tracksuit into school on these days.
After school Camogie will start on Tuesday 16th January and Hurling will begin on Thursday 18th January.

Fáilte
Welcome to Ms Dwyer who will be in teaching our class for the next few weeks. We look forward to her new ideas.
We have been busy in 6th Class since returning to school in September.
Here are just of the activities we have been getting involved in!
Early Christian Ireland
In September we studied what life was like for monks in Early Christian Ireland. We learned about the various sections of the monasteries and the type of jobs monks would have had.
We drew our own manuscripts. Have a look at some examples.
Making ink
In Science we made ink just like the monks in Early Christian Ireland did. We squashed raspberries and added some vinegar. We collected twigs in the yard and used them to write a message. It took ages. We imagined how long it would have taken the monks to write The Book of Kells.
We also had fun making invisible ink and sending messages to our friends.
